CA Foundation

The CA Foundation is the first level of Chartered Accountancy examinations in India.

Eligibility

A person can register for CA Foundation after completing Grade 10 and take the exam after completing High School (Grade 12)

Test model


It is an objective and subjective type of examination in which 2 exams are subjective and 2 exams are objective. CA Foundation covers four basic subjects-

1. Principles and Practices of Accounting (100 Marks)

2. Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting (100 Marks)
    - Business Laws (60 Marks)
    - Business Correspondence and Reporting (40 Marks)

3. Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and Statistics.
    - Business Mathematics (40 Marks)
    - Logical Reasoning (20 Marks)
    - Statistics (40 Marks)

4. Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge

In CA Foundation, Paper 1 and Paper 2 are Subjective and Paper 3 and Paper 4 are objective types papers Every incorrect answer in the CA Foundation exam(Paper 3rd and 4th) carries a 0.25 negative mark. A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 40% percent marks in each subject and a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregate, in all the four Sections to pass the CA Foundation.

Exam dates

CA Foundation exams are held in May and November.

Exemption

But with effect from 3rd Aug 2012, CA Foundation is exempted for the Graduates, Post Graduates and the students having equivalent degrees. Commerce graduates with 55% and other graduates with 60% can take direct admission for CA Intermediate.
