When a student goes for searching articleship majority of all chartered accountants ask for a resume. So before preparing there are so many questions arise in anyone's mind regarding what to write in a resume, which details should be given and which should be ignored. Obtaining Data To Be Written 


I have seen so many times that students do not remember their marks obtained in their 10th or 12th standards or in some cases in CPT also. so it is the primary thing that you are having all your academic details ready. It is necessary that you are having a xerox copy of all your mark sheets like SSC, HSC specifically prints our of your recent IPCC results.

Design Of Resume


A design of resume for an articleship should as much as simple having minimum number of pages which contain maximum information. Ideally, a fresher of an articleship has a maximum 2 page of the resume. As far as the font is concern use easy to read font like "Arial","Times New Roman","Tahoma". The size of a font in heading 14 or 16 with bold is good and for other text 10 to 12 is enough.

Using Bullet Points


After the declaration of IPCC result every time there is a rush of a student for articleship at chartered accountant's office. No chartered accountant have time to read long paragraphs of text. Make sure to use bullet points to describe your qualifications and achievements.

Language And Information

A resume having a simple and lucid expression with grammatical error free resume create a good impact. Use simple and short sentence instead of long sentences. Do not try to impress your chartered accountant by speaking lie, because a single wrong thing will keep away you from articleship at a good place. As far as information is concern use only relevant information only. Irrelevant information should be strictly avoided. Read, re-read resume to avoid any single grammatical mistakes.

Objective Lines In Resume


An objective line in a resume for a CA articleship is not matter more but still it is tradition to write objective line so write it. Qualifications


Qualification for CA articleship is not very much matter. The majority of chartered accountants prefer articles who have completed both groups of IPCC, as a student who have completed 1st group of IPCC will demand a leave for 2nd group examination. In some of the cases of chartered accountant prefer articles who is not having  regular colleges. In a case of writing qualifications in resume categorized classify qualification into category one for educational qualifications in reverse chronological order means recent one first followed by earlier one and so on and another category for other qualification in which you can mention any other certification course that you have undergone.

Experience


As a newbie to articleship chartered accountant will not expect experience but if you have any experience regarding accounting  than do not forget to mentioned that. Because your chances of getting selected is more if you are having beginner level of experience in Tally or some other accounting packages.


Personal Details


Personal details says who you are ? so clearly mentioned your personal details to enable chartered accountant to know who you are. Personal details contain permanent address and temporary address if your temporary address is different than permanent address, date of birth, nationality, marital status, language known, hobbies etc.

References


References is most important part of resume still it appears on last of resume. Include references of any two well-known personality with good designation better you give references of any chartered accountants. Care should be taken that many of chartered accountants cross check that such person whom references you are giving you is in touch with you or not.

As we know that the Chartered Accountancy qualification is known worldwide and is the professional qualification choice for businesses worldwide. The first step or entry level examination in a ‘Chartered Accountancy course’ is usually known as CPT i.e. Common Proficiency Test which is an objective type test consisting of 4 subjects. These four subjects namely Mercantile Laws, Fundamental Accounting, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude are asked to test the basic understanding of the candidate in these subjects.

The exam consists of 200 questions comprising 1 mark each and conducted in two separate sessions of 2 hours each with a small break in between. The first session is of Fundamental Accounting – 60 marks & Mercantile Laws – 40 marks and the other session is of General Economics – 50 marks & Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks.

To pass this exam, a student has to secure a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate and 30 % in each subject. Also, there is a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer by the student.
